1. The Service
Life at the Improv provides an AI scene partner, classroom mode, exercise library, lesson planner, scripts library, daily prompts, journal, leaderboard, coach marketplace, and related tooling for actors, improv students, and coaches. Features and limits depend on your subscription tier (see Section 4).
2. Accounts
You must be 13 or older to create an account. You are responsible for the security of your account, including any device that has a passkey enrolled or an active session cookie. We use passwordless sign-in (magic link plus optional passkey); we never ask for your password because you don't have one.
One account per person. You may not share an account or use it on behalf of someone else without their authorization. Coach and Studio tier accounts may add additional named users (Studio: up to 10 coach seats).
3. Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to:
- Harass, threaten, or stalk anyone, including via The Wall or coach messages.
- Post content that is defamatory, obscene, or violates anyone's privacy or IP.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, rate-limit-bust, or otherwise abuse the API or the AI features.
- Train any model on content that wasn't yours to begin with.
- Impersonate another coach, student, or organization.
- Upload malware or content that exploits, sexualizes, or endangers minors.
- Resell, sublicense, or rebrand the Service without a written agreement.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules. We try to give a warning first; we don't promise to.
4. Subscription tiers and billing
Tier prices and features are listed at latihq.com/pricing and may change with 30 days' notice. As of this revision:
- Free: $0/mo. AI scene partner with monthly cap, full exercise library, daily prompt, journal, basic voice.
- Pro: $12/mo. Unlimited scene practice, Opus-tier AI, 13-voice studio pack, Whisper voice-in, take recording, AI feedback.
- Coach: $29/mo. Everything in Pro plus student roster, lesson planner, classroom projector mode, AI classroom assistant, homework + XP, emotion-aware Hume voice.
- Studio: $149/mo. Everything in Coach plus up to 10 coach seats, multi-room streaming, classroom listen + AI observer.
Subscriptions are billed monthly via Stripe in U.S. dollars. The card on file is charged automatically on each renewal date until you cancel. Failed charges are retried per Stripe's smart-retry schedule for up to 14 days; if no charge succeeds we downgrade you to Free.
5. Refunds and cancellations
14-day no-questions-asked refund window
If you upgrade to a paid tier and decide it isn't for you, email support@latihq.com within 14 days of your first charge on that tier and we will refund 100%. The refund window applies once per tier per account; switching from Pro to Coach and back doesn't reset it.
After 14 days
Subscriptions are not pro-rated. You can cancel at any time and you keep paid-tier access through the end of your current billing period. We don't refund partial months.
How to cancel
Visit latihq.com/billing and click Manage subscription. You'll be sent to Stripe's customer portal where you can cancel, update card, or change plan. You can also email us and we'll cancel for you.
6. Downgrade and data retention
If your subscription ends (cancellation or failed payment) we downgrade your account to Free. We do not delete your data on downgrade. Specifically:
- Your account, profile, journal, scripts, lesson plans, roster, take recordings, and chat history all stay.
- Coach-tier and Studio-tier features are gated (you can't run classroom mode, the AI Listen observer is off, the lesson planner becomes read-only) but the data behind them is preserved.
- You have a 90-day window to export anything you want before any storage limits are enforced. If you re-upgrade later, everything is right where you left it.
- Inactive Free accounts (no login for 12 months) are archived at month 12 and hard deleted at month 18, per the Privacy Policy retention schedule.
7. AI features (disclosure)
The AI scene partner, AI feedback, AI lesson generation, AI talent matching, AI classroom observer, and any other feature labeled "AI" use third-party language and voice models, currently Anthropic's Claude, OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Hume, and Groq. Output is for educational and entertainment use; it may be wrong, made up, or off-tone. Don't rely on it for legal, medical, or financial advice. Don't paste sensitive information you wouldn't want a third-party model provider to process.
Your scene practice content, journal entries, and uploaded scripts are never used to train any third-party AI model. We pass your content to providers only for inference (one-shot generation) under their data processing agreements.
8. Coach marketplace and Stripe Connect
Coaches set their own rates. We facilitate booking and payment via Stripe Connect (destination charges). Stripe is the merchant of record for the coaching session; we charge a platform fee and Stripe pays the rest to the coach. By accepting bookings as a coach you separately agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement.
We are not a party to the coach-student session. We don't certify or endorse coaches; the verified badge means the coach passed our identity check, not that we vouch for their teaching. Disputes about a session (no-shows, refunds, conduct) are between the coach and the student. Email us if you can't resolve it and we'll help mediate, but we make no promise of outcome.
9. Your content and our license
You own the content you create. By posting to public areas (The Wall, public lesson plans, talent directory) you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, and (for The Wall) re-share that content within the platform. The license ends when you delete the content, except for cached copies that may persist for up to 30 days.
For private content (journal, take recordings, drafts), the license we need is narrower: just enough to store, back up, and serve it back to you and people you explicitly share it with.
10. Our intellectual property
The Life at the Improv name, logo, and software are owned by StanHattie LLC. The exercise library copy is a mix of original writing, public-domain games, and content licensed from instructors; you can use it in your own classes, but don't republish it as a competing product.
11. Termination and breach
You can close your account at any time from your profile or by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate an account that materially breaches these Terms (Section 3 Acceptable Use, fraud, chargeback abuse, repeated harassment) without refund. We try to give 14 days' notice for non-egregious cases.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or appropriate. Acting and improv coaching is a craft; software does not replace a human teacher.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, StanHattie LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any direct damages is capped at the greater of $100 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Polk County, Iowa, and you consent to that jurisdiction. Nothing in this section limits your rights as a consumer where local law gives you stronger protections.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. For non-trivial changes we'll email account holders at least 14 days before the effective date. Continued use of the Service after the effective date counts as acceptance. If you don't accept, cancel before the date and we'll refund any pre-paid period.
